My work as a practitioner is founded in a commitment to providing healthcare within a social justice framework- I believe we all have the right to affordable, accessible, high quality health care. I'm very thankful to be part of the Community Care Herbal Response Project offering herbal mutual aid and more, in collaboration with the Healing Clinic Collective and Ancestral Apothecary School, where I have been a teacher. I'm also honored to be part of the Freedom Community Clinic Healers Network. Please check out the amazing work of these incredible organizations.
I believe through connecting with the deeply healing nature of herbal medicine and acupuncture we can begin to make the changes we want to see in ourselves, the communities we are connected to, and the world we are part of. I love this medicine and look forward to working together!
Hi! Thank you for taking a moment to learn a bit about me- I believe it's important to find a practitioner who is a good fit for you. My name is Elokin Orton-Cheung, L.Ac., my pronouns are they/them or just Elokin. I've been a Clinical Community Herbalist since 2012, trained by Karyn and Sarah at the Blue Otter School of Herbal Medicine, and I am excited to also be offering acupuncture and other modalities through traditional Chinese medicine. I graduated from the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in 2021and am licensed in California and Nationally certified. I am am grateful to all of my teachers who have trained me along this journey.
I am queer, mixed gender and mixed race. My mom's side of the family are Chinese from Hong Kong, and while the medicine I offer is part of my ancestral and cultural lineage, I also acknowledge and honor that Chinese medicine is influenced by countries and cultures beyond China, in ways that I am still learning about as part of my personal work to understand and decolonize my relationship to this medicine, and healthcare overall.
I want to end on a fun note to say that I also try not to take myself too seriously- I made this shenyi-inspired outfit for Halloween, an homage to one of my fictional ancestors, huge nerd points if you know who.
